Fees, and Who You'll See
Every TMJ and TMD case is different, so treatment fees are different too. What is fixed is the cost of finding out where you stand and meeting the team involved in your care.
Consultation
$650 CAD, In Person
An in-person consultation with Dr. Westersund is $650 CAD. It is the day-one examination with the records your case needs, and it ends with a clear explanation of what we found and what we recommend — including "we are not the right people for this," if that is the honest answer.
Includes CBCT, Diagnostic Photos, T-Scan, TMJ assessment, and the report.
The Zoom meet-and-greet is free. It comes first for anyone travelling to see us.
If you have dental benefits, we are happy to complete any required forms on your behalf. Payment is made directly to our office at the time of service, and any eligible dental benefits are reimbursed directly to the patient.
Treatment Fees
Quoted After We Measure, Not Before
We do not quote treatment before the consultation, because until we have measured we would be guessing — and you would be paying for a guess. Fees depend on the diagnosis, the scope of work, and which parts of the team your case needs. After the first week you will have a written plan with the fees for each phase, and the choice of how far to take it is yours.
Phase 1 and Phase 2
Phase 1 stabilizes and measures: the records, a dental orthotic if indicated, a functional rebalance if indicated, and the team's care. Phase 2 is the longer-term options that may follow once the jaw is stable, and it is discussed and priced separately, later.
The Whole Body Approach Team
Three Providers, Their Own Fees
On day one you will usually also see the Biomechanical Therapist and the Upper Cervical chiropractor. They are independent practitioners who work with us on the same patients. Each sets and bills their own fees, and each will tell you what they found. We will introduce you and can pass on their contact details.
Dr. Westersund and Team
The jaw, the bite, the joints and the airway: EMG, computerised bite analysis, jaw tracking and CBCT imaging; dental orthotics and functional rebalance.
Upper Cervical Chiropractor
The top two bones of the neck, assessed with measured upright films and treated within their own licence. Consultation and care are billed by the practitioner.
Biomechanical Therapist
The pelvis, rib cage, breathing pattern and gait, treated within their own licence. Consultation and care are billed by the practitioner.
Where night-time breathing may be part of the picture, we refer you to a sleep physician for a sleep study. Sleep apnea is a medical diagnosis made by a physician, not by a dentist and not from a scan.
