Your Visit to Calgary
Planning a visit to Calgary for TMJ or TMD treatment? Find information on where we are, how to reach us from the airport, nearby hotels and what your first five days may look like. Most patients travelling from outside Calgary plan a five-day first visit, then return every two to three weeks.
The Office
Downtown, on 6 Street SW
Dr. Westersund and Team · Dentalife
Suite 255, 801 6 Street SW
Calgary, Alberta T2P 3V8
Western Canadian Place, second floor
The office is in the middle of downtown Calgary, one block south of the 7 Avenue LRT line. The 6 Street SW station is a short walk, and trains along 7 Avenue are free to ride within downtown.
Complimentary outdoor parking is available in the INDIGO lot on the south side of 9th Avenue SW. Turn right from 6th Street SW and look for one of the four stalls marked “Reserved – Dr. Westersund.” Do not pay for parking and please let our team know that you have parked in one of the reserved stalls.
Getting Here
Flying In
Calgary International Airport (YYC) is about 18 km north-east of downtown. A taxi or ride-share to the office or any of the hotels below takes roughly 25–35 minutes outside rush hour. Calgary Transit's Route 300 bus also runs between the airport and downtown.
Driving
Downtown Calgary is a grid of mostly one-way streets; the simplest route is to put 801 6 Street SW into your map app. Avenues run east–west and streets run north–south, so "6 Street SW at 8 Avenue" is the corner to look for.
Getting Around
Everything you need for the week — the office, the hotels, restaurants and the river paths — is within a fifteen-minute walk. You will not need a car.

The First Visit
Five Days, So Treatment Can Start
Consultations
You meet Dr. Westersund, the Biomechanical Therapist and the Upper Cervical chiropractor — three people looking at the same patient from three directions. Records are taken: history, examination, and the measurements your case needs.
Treatment Begins Where It Is Indicated
Depending on what the records show, this week can include a functional rebalance of the bite, a precision removable orthotic, and the start of upper cervical or biomechanical care. Five days gives us enough time to start properly rather than just look.
Return Visits Every Two to Three Weeks
Care continues with regular re-measurement. Phase 1 stabilises and measures; Phase 2 options come later, and only after the measurements say the jaw is ready.
How Long Will I Be Coming?
It depends on your condition, the diagnosis, the scope of work required and your own choices. In our experience the whole course of care is typically 9–12 months for women and 6–9 months for men. We will give you a clearer estimate after the first week, once we have measured.
How Long Is Each Appointment?
Your day 1 consultation is 1.5 hours long. The subsequent appointments are set for what is required.
Can I Bring Someone?
Yes. A partner, friend or family member is welcome at the consultations; a second pair of ears helps.
